I'm delighted to announce that I'm this year's winner of the Defiance Gallery and Residency award at this years National Landscape painting awards, The Paddinton Art Prize held at The Defiance Gallery in Sydney. My painting "Deloraine (clinging on) explores the fragility of nature and the struggle for survival.
"On a recent painting trip to Tasmania I found this steep escarpment down to a river bed near Deloraine. Erosion at the edge had left some trees clinging on for survival. Others by dint of their higher location flourished. I liked that story." Joe Blundell
